Loy & Co is an independent, owner-managed M&A and corporate finance consultancy specialising in buy-side and sell-side transactions within the German SME sector, as well as selected financing mandates.
As an Associate specialising in Origination & Deal Execution, you combine analytical depth with a structured approach. You will work closely with senior management and project leads, helping to turn market intelligence into concrete transactions.
In a boutique structure, this means: short lines of communication, high visibility and an environment in which your work has a direct impact on the pipeline and deal processes.
Your Tasks
M&A Origination
- Development of structured search profiles and identification of suitable target companies in close consultation with senior management and project leads
- Compilation and prioritisation of long and short lists, including in-depth company profiling (business model, market position, growth prospects)
- Establishment and ongoing maintenance of a transparent deal pipeline with clear tracking of activities and next steps
- Preparation of concise presentation materials (teasers, one-pagers, investment rationale) as a basis for discussions with entrepreneurs and investors
- Substantive preparation for initial meetings, as well as structured follow-up on feedback and outstanding issues
- Ongoing analysis of market, competitive and transaction activities to identify new, strategically sound opportunities
M&A Deal Execution
- Involvement in buy-side and sell-side transactions, with a focus on market, competitive and business model analysis
- Independently managing defined areas of analysis within ongoing projects, in close consultation with senior management and project leads
- Structured preparation of market and company information to provide a sound basis for decision-making
- Reviewing and validating business plan assumptions, as well as identifying key value drivers and risks, including sensitivity and scenario analyses
- Assisting with the organisation and tracking of due diligence processes (e.g. Q&A tracking, data room structure, consolidation of findings)
- Preparing clear, audience-specific presentations for management, entrepreneurs and investors
Your Profile
- 2–4 years’ relevant professional experience in strategy consulting, commercial due diligence, corporate M&A, corporate strategy or a similarly analytical environment
- Excellent skills in market, competitive and business model analysis, as well as a structured, hypothesis-driven approach to work
- Ability to quickly familiarise yourself with new industries and derive clear recommendations for action from complex information
- First experience in target screenings, deal pipelines or transaction projects is desirable – your analytical judgement is key
- Proficiency in Excel (structured KPI analyses, scenarios) and PowerPoint (clear, audience-appropriate storylines)
- High levels of self-motivation, reliability and a commitment to taking responsibility for results
- Very good command of German and English, as well as precise, professional communication skills
